The period when kitchens were fully clothed with ceramic tiles is long gone. At present, for the finishing of the walls, various materials are used that beautify this technical space, without compromising on the practical part of the arrangement.

In today’s article, we have chosen to present the 5 main materials, the most used, for finishing the kitchen walls.

1.Available in different designs and colors, the wallpaper has become an increasingly used material, which will give a personal touch to your kitchen. It is not recommended to be used in the worktop area, the sink and the hob, but it is very suitable for the dining area or on the connection wall with the living room, in the case of open-space kitchens. Wallpaper manufacturers have released variants that are especially resistant to vapors and humidity, super-washable and resistant to wear or other existing conditions in a kitchen where it cooks daily.

2.For surfaces that require frequent cleaning, such as those in the work areas, you can use glass. This finish is easy to maintain and contributes to creating an elegant and up-to-date look for your kitchen. In order to be able to use glass plating in the hob area, we recommend choosing specially designed and secure models to withstand high temperatures, otherwise it may crack over time. As a design artifact, you can use glass over other wall finishes, such as washable lime and other interior decorative finishes or wallpaper.

3.A classic but effective choice is paint or washable lime, but also more aesthetic variants, such as plastering and interior decorative finishes. The finish is not ideal for the walls in the counter area where you cut different juicy fruits or vegetables, nor on the wall of the stove or sink. This variant is used to introduce color into the kitchen décor or to temper the effect of ceramic tiles or furniture. A wall on which washable paint was used allows you to use other means of decoration such as paintings or photographs.

4.Always a handy solution, tile is a durable, easy-to-maintain and clean finish material, available in numerous designs and sizes. For a successful design of your kitchen, we recommend that you do not cover the walls entirely with ceramic tiles, using them only for areas prone to excessive dirt, and always choose glossy tile variants, the matte ones being more porous and, implicitly, more difficult to clean.

5.Less commonly used variants, but with a spectacular appearance, are the PAL and MDF or the wood veneers, especially in the table area, to create a continuous appearance with the finishing of the furniture.
