Expectations versus Reality within design projects

2. Projection and analysis

In the previous article, Exploration and Clarity, we discussed the beginning of the interior design project when we find out about the beneficiaries, the desires, the needs, but also the limits set by them.

The second stage, from the inherent relationship between the beneficiary and the designers during the realization of an arrangement, is the detailed Projection and analysis of each component of the final project.

projection

This involves a multitude of processes and decisions, ranging from trivial measurements, to translating space into 2D/3D, functional analysis and layout of lighting systems, choice of materials and finishes, and to the final complete image. Each step takes time. Going back to the Exploration article, let’s remember that stepping up workflows is the allocation of time that allows the recipient to reach the right decisions and the design team to execute all the proposals and changes that occur along the way. Also, all work steps must be set in realistic terms and depending on the load level of the design team or any other collaborators when contracting a new project.

Allocating the initial time and budget needed to make the right decisions can save you time and money.

The services contracted by the beneficiary and provided by the design team are the result of many years of theoretical and practical learning, hundreds of hours of research, analysis and experience accumulated in the projects.

Choosing products according to the chrome and design style from countless options available on the market, dozens of profile sites with hundreds of products sorted and analyzed in terms of objective criteria such as price, quality, durability, style or gauge, dozens of catalogs and participation in product and finishing materials presentations, all these operations have already been done by designers and architects, the information obtained being brought to the customer’s benefit and summarized in the few mails sent with the final options for his project.

Let’s not forget about the designer’s concern for the beneficiary’s budget, both general and allocated by category of products, in particular. A successful design project means a 90% – 100% implemented project. Care for the overall image is in the attention of the entire responsible team, both aesthetically, functionally and financially, always adjusting the design variables so that the final result is the one you want.

Throughout any project, situations will emerge where emotions will tell the word, influencing certain decisions. Because the arrangement is largely about the beneficiary, being the main piece of the design concept, any more emotional, less costly or time-consuming decision will also affect him. It is the moment when the designer’s role goes beyond the creative part, turning into a real project manager to analyze the implications of these decisions, their advantages and disadvantages, restoring the balance between aesthetics and function, desire and necessity, fear and trust.

Our recommendation for you, the beneficiary of an interior design project? Patience, calm and trust! Wait for yourself to be challenged!

In the course of the project there will be many factors that can increase the costs or modify the final result of the arrangement. Our recommendation is to choose whatever is really for your help or for your benefit. Do not forget: everything that is inexpensive is necessarily good, but neither is it expensive and even worth it!

This is to follow the “healthy” stages of the project, as planned in advance, together with all the collaborators, to choose executive teams to bring the desired project to life and to achieve a result as expected, and not last, trust the design team. Their experience is now with you at every step, so you can surrender control, at least from time to time, and enjoy the dream of becoming reality.
