It was a spring day, but not a beautiful sunny day. The wind and the wind were blowing, and any contact with the outside felt like a cold knife bath. We all tried to stay in the comfort of the warm backyard and to do our jobs quietly.

At one point, the boss, who had just received a very friendly phone from a customer, is pointing me to the location for a measurement. The discontents had nothing to do with me, but I was the only one at that time that could temper the tense moment. So, after I got my hand on the phone, to get location information, I’m going to use the fun equipment (rubber boots, an extra sweater, a big umbrella that I had in my hands for emergency situations) and start on the road. The location was not very far away, and any taxi would not have driven me that far, so I did not consider a few drops of rain an impediment.

Going on a hurry, I was making my plan to finish the measurements as soon as possible, because I had other projects that I should have been doing at this time. As soon as I pass through a building, however, a strong wind blows from my face so that the umbrella almost takes its flight, making it difficult to balance it. I put her in front of me, like a shield of protection, like an arena fighter. One of my hands hung my bag with the necessary tools, and on the other I held the umbrella with power, at least not to break, that anyway the rain did not protect me anymore. I was going like a soldier with the shield before, and I was just looking down at the bag that was still on my feet. It was through my mind to go back, but I had already passed halfway. On the side of the sidewalk I see a pet and smile! I understood to have met a cat or a dog, but even with a frog in the middle of the city, I would not have thought.

I’m going through some halls and I hear barking, coming closer and louder. “They! What good is that I have an umbrella! I do not want to imagine that I was very quiet when they came by me. It was clear that I would not have had a chance, alone in front of two big dogs, so I turned to the technique already tested in the past: “Do you keep the knife nice? Are you crazy? Do you have a cute little dog there? Are you gossiping, cute? “And I held it for a few minutes, until I got so tired that they abandoned the alarm procedure. Anyway, I was still with a hand in my bag, ready to give them my sandwich for lunch :)))

More relaxed that I have escaped from this experience, I walk into the completely unpaved alley that leads me to the door of the place. After a two-day rain and a few cars that went there, the mud was worse than the grandmother on the street. Sitting like a ballerina, when on a stone, when on the edge of a pond, easy-going, I get to the destination. A gentleman who had been sent to wait there, looked at me with more than a pity. Much more cute and clearly less stressed than his boss or mine, he gently asked me: “Yeah, why did not you come tomorrow? That tomorrow no longer rains. What difference did they make now, a few more hours? … ”

My answer … an expressive grimace, combined with a shrug from the shoulders and a blank look … I briefly told her the trip and suggested to me a less difficult route for return. I thanked him with respect, and we both headed to the room to be measured.

At the end of the day, after all the perils I had to face, I felt like a soldier who had managed to accomplish his mission in spite of all.
